Connect your domain

Type your domain and see every DNS record you need at once, with a ready message for your IT. Your old site keeps running until the new one is ready, so there's no downtime.

Your site goes live on a domain you or your client already own. You add a few records where the domain's DNS is managed; Tandmade does the rest, including the HTTPS certificate.

Connect

  1. Open the site menu in the top bar, choose Site settings… and go to Domain.
  2. Type your domain, like yourcompany.com, and click Connect. Both yourcompany.com and www.yourcompany.com are connected, and one forwards to the other.
  3. You see every record at once, in two groups:
    • Verify the domain and set up HTTPS — proves the domain is yours and lets Tandmade issue the certificate.
    • Point the domain to the site — sends visitors to your new site.
  4. Add the records at your DNS provider. Tandmade recognises it, for example "Add 4 records at Wedos", with a button to open it. Copy all copies every record, and Send to IT opens an email with everything your IT needs.
  5. Wait. Each record gets a green tick when it's in DNS. Tandmade checks every two minutes on its own, even when nobody has the page open.

Three steps, no downtime

The card shows where you are: Verify domain → Publish site → Switch traffic.

If your domain already shows an old site, it keeps running while the domain is verified and the certificate is issued. Then you publish, and only at the end the traffic switches to the new site. Visitors never see an error.

You can publish to a domain that isn't ready yet. The site goes live there by itself once its DNS is in place.

The records

Group Record What it's for
Verify the domain and set up HTTPS TXT Proves the domain is yours
_acme-challenge Lets Tandmade issue the HTTPS certificate
Point the domain to the site CNAME www Sends visitors on www to the site
CNAME @ Sends visitors on the bare domain to the site

Under each value it says what it replaces, if anything. The Name shows only the part before your domain, like _acme-challenge.www, as most providers expect.

The bare domain For yourcompany.com without www, the record is a CNAME on @. Some DNS providers call this ALIAS or ANAME. If yours can't do either, choose Use A records and add the two addresses shown instead. Domains with accents work too.

The main address

With both addresses connected, one is the main address and the other forwards to it. Make main on a verified domain swaps them.

Remove a domain

Remove it from its card and confirm. Visitors stop reaching the site there at once. The records at your provider stay; delete them there too.

Next Publish to your new domain: Publish your site.
