Export and import a site
Download a whole site as one .tmz file, with its pages, design, images, content and versions, and upload it to any Tandmade workspace as a new site.
Use an export to keep a copy, to move a site between workspaces, or to give a developer the project.
Export
Open the site menu in the editor and choose Export site, or Export in the site's ⋯ menu on the dashboard. The browser downloads a file named after the site, like vesper.tmz.
What's in the file
A .tmz is a gzipped tar archive, so any archive tool opens it:
├── expirio-site.json # name and a summary: pages, collections, forms, size
└── site/ # the Astro project — see Project structure
├── src/, design/, brand/, settings/, public/, …
└── .expirio/ # content database, versions and uploaded media
Not in the file: installed packages, build output, Git history, domains and publishing. Form submissions from your live site aren't in it either; export them from Forms as CSV.
Import
- On the dashboard, choose to upload an export, or drop the
.tmzfile where the start screen asks What are we building from? - Tandmade reads it and shows what's inside before anything is added: the name, pages, size, collections and forms.
- Click Import site. It's added as a new site; nothing existing is replaced.
An imported site is a draft until you publish it. Files up to 95 MB can be uploaded.
Where an export runs An export can be uploaded to any Tandmade workspace. It doesn't run outside Tandmade on its own, because the content package it uses isn't public.
Coming from another tool
Exports from Webflow, Framer or WordPress don't import here. Paste the site's address instead and Tandmade rebuilds it: see Create your first site.
Quicker for a copy To copy a site within the same workspace, use Duplicate in its ⋯ menu on the dashboard.
