Site settings

The site's name and icon, defaults for search and sharing, indexing and AI crawlers, Google tools and custom code, visitor analytics and the domain, all on one page.

Site settings are for what applies to the whole site rather than one page. Open them from the site menu in the top bar › Site settings…. Everything here goes live with your next publish.

General

  • Site name — used in search results and shares for pages without their own title, and as the sender name of form emails.
  • Site icon — one square image (PNG, SVG or ICO, at least 180 × 180 px) gives the site its browser, Apple and Android icons.

SEO & sharing

Defaults that each page can override in its page settings.

  • Add the site name to page titles — "Menu" becomes "Menu · Your company". Pick the separator. Titles that already contain the name stay as they are.
  • Default description — for pages without their own. Google shows about 160 characters.
  • Default share image — for pages without their own. A 1200 × 630 JPG or PNG works everywhere.

The homepage preview shows the result as a Google result and as a social card.

Indexing

  • Show site in search engines — turn it off only before launch.
  • robots.txt — Automatic is built from these settings; Custom lets you write your own.
  • Let AI companies train on this site — off blocks crawlers that collect AI training data, like GPTBot and Google-Extended. AI search tools such as ChatGPT search and Perplexity still find your pages.
  • llms.txt — a summary of your site for AI assistants, built from your pages and published content. Write the summary line yourself, or customise the whole file.
  • Sitemap — updates on its own. Once you publish to your domain, its address shows here.

The review link is always hidden from search engines.

Integrations & code

  • Google Search Console — paste the HTML tag from Search Console.
  • Google Analytics 4 (G-…) and Google Tag Manager (GTM-…) — run on your live domain only, not on the review link or in the editor. In the EU they need a cookie banner for visitors.
  • Custom code — code for the head and for the end of every published page, like a chat widget. Only people with full access can add it.

Visitor analytics

Tandmade's own analytics are on for every published site, without cookies. Switch them off per site here. The section also gives you a paragraph to paste into your privacy policy. See Analytics.

Domain and publishing

Domain is where you connect your own domain; see Connect your domain. Publishing shows the live site and the review link.
